+ Music at St Paul's We are very blessed at St Paul's to have our music co-ordinated by the very gifted Kate Woodruff - a professional singer, music teacher, and formerly head of music at Abbey Grange C of E High School here in Leeds. Sunday Services – Except when there is a baptism or a Parade Service, we have a sung Eucharist using Patrick Appleford’s ‘New English Mass’ in F with piano accompaniment. Hymn Books - We use ‘Ancient and Modern’ and ‘Junior Praise’, and Powerpoint to sing a wide range of modern and traditional music.

Everyone who wants to, is encouraged to contribute to our worship through music - and so we have a number of different groups! The Singing Group - Our singing each Sunday is led by a small choir with around seven members. New members are always welcome. The Band – is a group of adults and children playing recorders, flutes, clarinets, trumpet, guitars and drums. The band meets to practice weekly (Friday’s @ 5-6pm) to learn new music and plays for Parade Services and other special occasions. The Music Group - includes 6 singers, 2 guitarists, 1 keyboard player; mixed ages. This group comes together for special services, and is sometimes performs as “Old Macdonald”, a folk group who can provide secular music on other occasions. Regular events include Christmas Carol Singing and Carol Service, Harvest Supper, Holy Week services, Easter Vigil and concerts by "Trio" - a group of 3 fine contraltos, including Kate. Occasional events have included invitations to contribute to Diocesan events such as the Installation of Bishop James of Knaresborough, Faith & Light services (both Parish and Yorkshire-wide services), services in aid of charitable causes (such as Emmaus, Leeds), and Seacroft Parish services. |
